Terms & Cancellation
Last updated: July 2026
Booking and payment
A booking is confirmed once you have received written confirmation from Toptur and paid the required deposit. The deposit amount is stated in your booking confirmation and is typically 30% of the total tour price.
The remaining balance is due no later than 30 days before the tour start date. For bookings made within 30 days of departure, the full amount is due at the time of booking.
Payment methods and bank details will be provided in your booking confirmation.
Cancellation by the client
If you need to cancel your booking, please notify us in writing as soon as possible. The following cancellation fees apply:
- More than 60 days before departure: Full refund of deposit
- 30–60 days before departure: Deposit is forfeited; any balance paid is refunded in full
- 14–29 days before departure: 50% of total tour price is charged
- Less than 14 days before departure: 100% of total tour price is charged
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that includes trip cancellation coverage. This can protect you against cancellation fees in cases of illness, injury, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Cancellation by Toptur
In the event that Toptur must cancel a tour due to insufficient group numbers, we will offer you either a full refund or the option to transfer to another available date.
If a tour must be cancelled or modified due to circumstances beyond our control — including severe weather, natural disasters, political unrest, or force majeure events — we will make every effort to offer an alternative. Refunds in these circumstances are at Toptur's discretion and may be partial depending on costs already incurred.
Changes to bookings
If you wish to change your booking dates or transfer to a different tour, please contact us as early as possible. We will accommodate changes where possible, subject to availability. An administration fee of NOK 500 may apply.
Weather and conditions
Mountain activities are subject to weather and conditions. Toptur reserves the right to modify routes, objectives, or itineraries where safety requires it. If a summit or specific objective cannot be reached due to weather or conditions, this does not entitle the client to a refund — the guide fee covers the day's guiding regardless of outcome.
In the event of a multi-day tour being cut short due to dangerous weather or emergency, any refund will be calculated on a pro-rata basis for unused days, minus costs already incurred.
Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all Toptur tours. Your policy must include:
- Mountain rescue and helicopter evacuation
- Medical expenses abroad
- Trip cancellation cover (recommended)
For high-altitude expeditions above 5,000m, your policy must explicitly cover high-altitude mountaineering. Clients without adequate insurance may be refused participation.
Toptur carries professional liability insurance as required by Norwegian law.
Client responsibilities
By booking a tour with Toptur, you confirm that:
- You have honestly represented your experience level and physical condition
- You will follow the guide's instructions at all times in the field
- You will not undertake any activity that the guide has assessed as unsafe
- You hold valid travel insurance as required above
Toptur accepts no liability for injury, loss, or damage resulting from a client's failure to follow guide instructions or from misrepresentation of experience or fitness level.
Liability limitation
Mountain activities carry inherent risks that cannot be eliminated entirely. Toptur takes all reasonable precautions to manage these risks, but participation is at your own risk. Toptur's liability for any claim is limited to the total amount paid for the tour.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of Norwegian courts.
